Miami Heat @ Indiana Pacers

In their last game the Heat found out just how much they missed Bosh, losing game 2 at home. The other rabble that fills out the Miami team was absolutely horrible. Nobody scored more than 5 points apart from LBJ and Wade. When that happens your team stands zero chance of winning the game. Shane Battier, Mario Chalmers, Udonis Haslem, and Mike Miller won’t all play that terribly in back to back games. And despite how horrible everybody not named James and Wade was in game 2 Miami still had a chance to win the game down the stretch. The main thing Miami has going for it is its defence and that will be consistently executed throughout. all they need is more than 5 points from a few scrubs and they’ll be ok.

Boston Celtics @ Philadelphia 76ers

I, along with many others, didn’t think this series would be as tightly contested has it has been thus far. Boston is the better team, no question, but as they proved throughout the season they are not afraid to either play down to or up to their opponents level. In game 2 Boston let things get out of control, perhaps because of a little arrogance. I look to game 3 as a sort’ve vengeance battle and I don’t think it will be quite as close as the previous 2 games (both decided by 1 point).

Indiana Pacers @ Miami Heat

Miami finished with a 9 point victory in game 1, but the Pacers hung with them for much of the game. I would argue that the game was closer than the 9 points would indicate. However I believe that’s what good teams do, they don’t necessarily play a great game, but still beat their opponents by a solid margin. I think game 2 will be similar, in that it will be somewhat close right up until the end. Bosh is out for the rest of this series and possible longer, which hurts the Heat, but not horrendously so. LBJ will get a chance to pick up the scoring and I think he rises to the occassion.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Oklahoma City Thunder

The Lakers are old, tired, and banged up but this will still be an interesting series. Did the Lakers finally find their groove with their game 7 victory over Denver? I don’t think so, things haven’t consistently clicked for them yet. I think James Harden’s emergence in this year’s playoffs has been one of the more interesting subplots. When Harden has it going he is truly fantastic. The Lakers couldn’t contain Ty Lawson, and I expect them to have an even greater difficulty with Westbrook. While OK City doesn’t have the frontcourt scoring that LA has, they do have some of the best frontcourt defence in the league. LA is lucky if this series goes beyond 5 games.

Indiana Pacers @ Miami Heat

Miami has had plenty of time to get some rest in prior to today’s game, and I know they’ll come out ready. I think Miami takes care of Indiana in similar fashion to the way they handled New York- likely another 5 game series. While Indiana is a super deep team and actually finished in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference they are still way behind the Heat in most methods of measurement. Media types are continuing to preach that Indiana can make this a long series, and that they’ll make it tough on Miami, but I don’t see it. I think that’s just an attempt to keep the series interesting. If we were saying that Indiana is going to get stomped into the ground than why would anybody bother to watch it. Miami doesn’t completely destroy the Pacers tonight, but I’m predicting they win their first one at home by a reasonable margin.

Memphis Grizzlies @ Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers have a chance to put this series away tonight and move on. Can they manage a home victory or will they be forced to a game 7 like the other LA basketball team. I picked the Clippers a few times already during these playoffs with mixed results. The Clippers really don’t want to lose home court advantage and end up back in Memphis for game 7. If the Clippers lose game 6 their chances for game 7 wouldn’t look great either. To win this series the Clippers likely need to win tonight. Chris Paul knows this and will scrounge up an LA victory. Memphis doesn’t have anybody who can execute like Mr. Paul.

Los Angeles Clippers @ Memphis Grizzlies

There were three potential close out games last night, but only one team successfully delivered the knockout blow (the Indiana Pacers). Tonight the Clippers also have a chance to finish of a team. I think Memphis likely wins won more game, but as this series has gone so far, I don’t think they’ll win by very much. Memphis hasn’t been getting the kind of production from their big men that carried them over the Spurs last playoffs. Randolph is still trying to find his game, and Gasol hasn’t quite played up to his potential. O.J. Mayo has been hot and cold.

Denver Nuggets @ Los Angeles Lakers

Simply put, the Nuggets are over-matched against this Lakers squad. To be perfectly honest I was surprised that Denver pulled out the one win that they did manage. Gasol and Bynum are just too big and too good for the smaller Nuggets to handle. With Kobe posting some fantastic games too, this Lakers squad looks quite respectable. I don’t know how far the Lakers will make it these playoffs, but I know they’ll be out of the first round soon enough.

Memphis Grizzlies @ Los Angeles Clippers

In their last matchup Chris Paul proved yet again just how dangerous he can be in the playoffs. Paul’s late game execution is unrivaled in the NBA. The Clips only won their previous game by one point, but in reality it was not really that close. Rudy Gay tossed in two late three pointers to keep the game close, but those were ridiculously tough shots. While the Clippers are not the greatest free throw shooting team, they normally aren’t as bad as they showed in game 3. Expect The Clippers to be a little better at the line this next game. The much maligned Clippers’ crowd is feeding of Paul’s playmaking and will help carry this team to a game 4 victory.

San Antonio Spurs @ Utah Jazz

Utah finally gets to take the show back home, hoping the change of scenery will compel them to at least one victory. Sweeps have been relatively rare lately, but this series certainly looks like it might go that way. It does have to be acknowledged that Utah was a pretty terrible away this year, and they are almost an entirely new team when they play at home. Will it be enough to steal a victory from the smouldering Spurs? Not tonight, but I think Utah might possibly take game 4 when the Spurs let off the pedal a little bit. The Spurs are too talented, too well coached, and too driven to drop this game in Utah.
